The cone calorimeter (ISO 5660-1) is intended to quantify the amount of heat released by a sample exposed to controlled levels of radiation. The time to ignition of the sample is also measured
The characteristics obtained from the sample after the test are as follows:
- Speed of heat release
- Heat release rate per unit area (kW.m2)
- speed of weight loss ( kW.S)
- Time for ignition of the test tube
- Smoke density
- Weight of soot falling from the test tube (kg/Kg.)
- Effective heat of combustion
- The toxicity level of emitted gases
